"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a splendidly made film based on a profoundly mistaken premise. It tells the story of a man who is old when he is born and an infant when he dies. All those around him, everyone he knows and loves, grow older in the usual way, and he passes them on the way down. In a New Orleans nursing home takes place an unusual birth story of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) where he springs into being as an elderly man and ages in reverse. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was originally a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that was later very loosely adapted into a successful 2008 epic drama/fantasy/romance movie directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is told through the framing device of Daisy asking her daughter, Caroline (Julia Ormond) to read Benjamin's diary to her as Daisy lies dying in a hospital bed, with Hurricane Katrina raging outside. By reading the story, Caroline comes to learn the truth about who her father was.
